DO I NEED A LEGAL GUARDIAN IN CANADA UNDER THE AGE OF 18? Most students at OIC are between the age of 17 to 23. Even though Toronto is a safe city, younger students require additional guidance and protection. Thus, an applicant less than 18 years of age must retain a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident as his/her legal guardian in Canada. This legal guardian will assume the role and responsibilities of a parent in case of emergency. When OIC arranges a guardian for you, you must stay with him/her for the period of your stay in Canada. You must pay your legal guardian a custodian fee of around CAD$1000.00 for each year of guardian service. You will have to pay for a non-refundable processing fee of CAD$200.00 for processing your legal guardianship certificate. |
